Nickname and hometown
I’m from central Wisconsin, born there a month before Reagan was elected president, the first time. People call me Fuzzy, as they do my dad and my dad’s dad before me.
How did I get started at SDS?
I was here in the beginning as a part time printer while finishing up my undergraduate degree at the UW. During the last 15 years that part time job turned into a career.
Best thing about working at SDS?
The people and the laid back atmosphere are the two things that stand out in my mind about working here. Also having a boss/owner that cares more about the employees as people than profit is especially nice, thanks Dorla!
Where would you go if you could travel anywhere?
The Biafo Glacier in the Karakoram mountains range of Asia is where I would go. It’s obscure and hard to get to, and thus not a popular destination, that’s sounds perfect to me. Eric Shipton is likely the first Westerner to set foot there, and he “found” and mapped many of the great mountain ranges of that area. Spending months on the glaciers with little more than flour, rice and water. The John Muir of the Himalayas!
Favorite design printed at SDS?
Droids Attack, a local Madison band, has some pretty wild stuff: one of their T-Shirt designs is of a squid attacking a space shuttle (in space, obviously) and its as awesome as it sounds.
Favorite place in Madison?
Madison is a town of many unique and interesting places, my favorite space is Boulders Climbing Gym on the east side, it’s where I met my wife and created many lasting friendships. For good food and the quintessential Madison vibe, The Weary Traveler, which is just down the street, is tops on my list. I was there the week they opened and I hope to never see it close!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Freetime, what free time? my wife and I have a 2 year old son.

How did you get started at Screen Door Studio?
I saw the Instagram post for hiring. I just loved how the "Now Hiring" was in ink on a screen. My dream is printing my designs on tees, and I thought this was a great opportunity to learn all about the industry from a tight-knit team at a local small business.
Best thing about working at SDS?
Definitely the small crew. Dorla and Ben are awesome people to learn from, and it's a much better experience than you'd get at a larger screen printing company. You're part of the team here instead of just another employee at the bottom of the food chain.
Favorite design printed at SDS
So far, it probably has to be my most challenging print yet. We did an awesome run of shirts for Aftershock Arcade Bar. I love the artwork on it and the whole printing experience taught me so much in such a short amount of time.
Favorite place in Madison?
Olbrich Gardens is a great place to bring my camera to and spend the afternoon. I could also spend hours shopping at Artist and Craftsman Supply.
Where would you go if you could travel anywhere?
Mexico to see more of my cultural heritage, or Italy to try authentic spaghetti.
what do you like to do in your spare time?
I’m kind of a homebody, but if I’m not home playing World of Warcraft, I like to get out to explore new State Parks to go hiking and camping.
