Behind the Screens @ SCREEN DOOR STUDIO
An image is created and printed on transparent film. Using a light table, the art work is positioned, or "registered" on a screen which has been coated with a photo-sensitive emulsion. The screen is then exposed to light, which hardens the emulsion. Where the film blocks the light, the emulsion washes away to create an opening or stencil of the image. The screen is positioned on the t-shirt press and loaded with ink. The printer forces the ink through the stencil.
