Screen Door Studio is experiencing unprecendented supply chain problems.

For years we have tried to turn jobs around in 2 weeks. Unfortunately, it often takes longer than that just to locate the blank goods to print and then add on delayed shipping times. Then your job enters our print queue.

If you are planning on a custom print job for the holidays, please connect with us soon.

Please be patient and try to plan ahead.

Thanks, the Screen Door Studio Crew

Meet the Crew at Screen Door Studio

Eldon Allison

Nickname and hometown

Never had a nickname. Ames, Iowa and Baraboo, WI. I just went by extremely weird birth name…Eldon.

How did I get started at SDS?

Dorla called me to see if I needed work.

Best thing about working at SDS?

The variety of printing jobs and time flies by.

Favorite design printed at SDS?

Haven’t printed it yet.

Where would you go if you could travel anywhere?

Merlyn’s Night Club.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Relax. I’m 72, I don’t need to do anything but ride my bike. Haven’t driven a car since 1976.

Ben Fellenz

Nickname and hometown

I’m from central Wisconsin, born there a month before Reagan was elected president, the first time. People call me Fuzzy, as they do my dad and my dad’s dad before me.

How did I get started at SDS?

I was here in the beginning as a part time printer while finishing up my undergraduate degree at the UW. During the last 15 years that part time job turned into a career.

Best thing about working at SDS?

The people and the laid back atmosphere are the two things that stand out in my mind about working here. Also having a boss/owner that cares more about the employees as people than profit is especially nice, thanks Dorla!

Where would you go if you could travel anywhere?

The Biafo Glacier in the Karakoram mountains range of Asia is where I would go. It’s obscure and hard to get to, and thus not a popular destination, that’s sounds perfect to me. Eric Shipton is likely the first Westerner to set foot there, and he “found” and mapped many of the great mountain ranges of that area. Spending months on the glaciers with little more than flour, rice and water. The John Muir of the Himalayas!

Favorite design printed at SDS?

Droids Attack, a local Madison band, has some pretty wild stuff: one of their T-Shirt designs is of a squid attacking a space shuttle (in space, obviously) and its as awesome as it sounds.

Favorite place in Madison?

Madison is a town of many unique and interesting places, my favorite space is Boulders Climbing Gym on the east side, it’s where I met my wife and created many lasting friendships. For good food and the quintessential Madison vibe, The Weary Traveler, which is just down the street, is tops on my list. I was there the week they opened and I hope to never see it close!

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Freetime, what free time? my wife and I have a 2 year old son.

How did I get started at SDS?

Started at Operation Fresh Start and heard about the job from one of the staff. I have been here ever since.

Best thing about working at SDS?
It’s nice to be able to work closely with people I have known and gotten to know over time.

Where would you go if you could travel anywhere?
It would be California because I hear it is very beautiful there.

Favorite place in Madison?
Wherever there is good food.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I like to hang out with family and friends and try to find new and interesting things going on in the city.

Dorla Mayer

How did I get started at SDS?

Screen Door Studio is a morph between the old Survival Graphics screen printing workshop and scaled down Wildwood Productions production facility.

Best thing about working at SDS?
I like to make and see things being made. Small tight crew and its close to home.

Where would you go if you could travel anywhere?
I’d like to see South America, all of it.

Favorite place in Madison?
Picnic Point, Ground Zero Coffee, Lake Monona on the ice, Sala Thai Restaurant, Olin-Turville Park.

Favorite design printed at SDS?
Scott Pauli’s design for a beadwork bandana for Iron Boy.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Head to woods, dog parks, lakes or movies.

B-Side Records and Mod Pizza.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

How Much?

The Cost of T-shirt Printing depends upon:

  • the quantity of pieces in the run.
  • the quality, style, brand, and fabric content of the garment.
  • the number of colors to be printed.
  • the complexity of the image - art preparation, color separation.
  • Placement of image (front, back, sleeve, etc.)

How long will it take?

Once the artwork and garment are selected, we can deliver the product within two weeks.

What kind of artwork do we need?

We can work from a basic concept sketch to create your image. If you have prepared files, please deliver them in Adobe Photoshop (300 dpi) or Illustrator format.
